A chemical manufacturing company which is on standby to assist in any foot-and-mouth scare claimed in the High Court yesterday that its ability to get vehicles into and out of its facility was being hampered by Travellers' caravans. Mr James Phillips, for Messrs T.P. Whelehan, Finglas, Dublin, claimed Travellers had broken a lock on a steel gate into the firm's grounds and were camped on a loading area. Mr Justice McKechnie granted a temporary order until Thursday which restrains the Travellers, who have 10 caravans and three other vehicles, or anyone with notice of the order, from trespassing on the company's premises.

In the event of a foot-and-mouth outbreak, Mr Phillips said his clients would have to make speedy deliveries of chemical products.
