The trial of the men accused in the kidnap-murder of Wall Street Journalreporter Mr Daniel Pearl has resumed under tight security.
The trial has moved to Hyderabad from Karachi because of prosecution fears of a terrorist attack, officials said.
The trial had been suspended for more than a week after Chief Prosecutor Mr Raja Quereshi complained about the judge and security in Karachi.
However, defence lawyers said they thought the move ordered by the Sindh provincial high court at the prosecution's request was pointless.
"If terrorists can blow up the jail in Karachi, they can blow up the jail in Hyderabad," said Mr Abdel Waheed Katpar, lawyer for the chief defendant, British-born Islamic militant Mr Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh.
The daily trip of 75 miles by road east from Karachi exposes the lawyers to further risk, the lawyer told reporters outside the Hyderabad jail, where the trial was resuming in a makeshift courtroom.
In the first three days of the trial last week, witnesses identified Mr Saeed as a man who met Mr Pearl before he disappeared.
The trial of Mr Saeed and three others accused in the January 23rd kidnapping and subsequent killing of Mr Pearl began April on 22nd. he four defendants have pleaded innocent to charges of murder, kidnapping and terrorism. They face the death penalty if convicted.
