Trinity Biotech reported a profit in the fourth quarter compared with the same period a year ago, on sales up 53 per cent, reflecting both organic and acquisition-led growth.
The manufacturer of diagnostic products with offices in Co Wicklow and in the US, said for the three months to December 31st, 2002, pre-tax profit was $1.3 million, or 3.7 cents, against a loss of $1.7 million, or 4.1 cents, on revenues rising to $14.98 million from $9.80 million.
For the full-year period, it made a pre-tax profit of $5.5 million, or 12.4 cents a share on revenue up 40 per cent to $51.98 million from $37.06 million.
During the quarter, Trinity bought a clinical chemistry business which consists of several esoteric products and said it is in the process of transferring the manufacture of these products from St Louis to Trinity's facility in Dublin.
