Dr Jennifer Johnston, novelist and board member of the Abbey Theatre; Mr Patrick Murphy, collector of modern Irish art and chairman of the Arts Council, and Dr Bruce Arnold, literary critic, journalist and novelist, have been made honorary fellows of Trinity College.
The university also announced 10 new fellows and 49 new scholars at a ceremony presided over by the board and provost, Dr Thomas Mitchell.
The fellows are: Dr Syliva Draper (chemistry); Dr Monica Gale (classics); Dr Anil Kokaram (electronic and electrical engineering); Dr Fraser Mitchell (botany); Dr Donal O'Mahony (computer science); Dr Margaret O'Mahony (civil, structural and environmental engineering); Dr Shane O'Mara (psychology).
Dr Derek Sullivan (oral surgery, oral medicine and oral pathology); Ms Hilary Tovey (sociology); Mr Stephen Wilmer (drama).
