RUSSIA will today unveil one of the most breath taking archaeological finds - a collection of gold from ancient Troy, which was seized in Berlin at the end of the second World War. More than 250 pieces unearthed more than a century ago by a German archaeologist are going on display in Moscow for the first time.
The collection, known as King Priam's Treasure, only became known in 1993, when the Pushkin Museum revealed it had it. It was discovered in 1873 by Heinrich Schliemann, who was convinced it belonged to Priam, the king of Troy in Homer's Iliad. Experts have since dated it to long before Homer - about 2500 BC.
