A man has died in a crash involving at least four trucks on the main Dublin to Cork road in Co Cork this morning.
Three other truck drivers were seriously injured in the crash, which happened on the N8 north of Fermoy at 7.00 am.
The dead man was the driver of one of the trucks. It is believed his vehicle, which was fully loaded, went out of control and hit the other vehicles.
The N8 is blocked in both directions outside the Corbett Court Restaurant on the Fermoy side of Kilworth.
Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if at all possible. The road is not expected to reopen until at least 6.00pm.
Diversions are in place for northbound traffic from Cork City via Ballyhooly to Glanworth and then on to Mitchlestown.
Southbound traffic is diverted via the Kilworth and back through Fermoy to rejoin the N8.
