Viewing figures for RTÉ's flagship Late Late Show rose on Friday after a disappointing start to the new season.

Some 744,000 viewers tuned in to watch presenter Ryan Tubridy interview Senator David Norris, actor John Hurt and Big Brother winner Paddy Doherty. This is equivalent to 50 per cent of the available audience and is in line with the same period a year ago.

Tubridy has been under severe pressure in recent weeks after the Late Late Show haemorrhaged viewers in its first two weeks of the season.

Just 650,000 people tuned in to watch the first show which was broadcast on September 2nd and included singer Sinead O'Connor and actor Cuba Gooding Jnr. This compares to 832,000 for the same show last year.
