Tullow upbeat about African prospects

In a trading statement issued today Tullow said that drilling at the Faucon-1 well in Mauritania going well and current testing will help determine the commerciality of the discovery.

Elsewhere in Africa, Tullow is drilling of two exploration wells offshore Angola. Further drilling activity is due to commence in Uganda and Gabon during December.

Tullow also said it is increasing its interest in the Hewett-Bacton area in the southern North Sea. After the acquisition, Tullow will have 52 per cent interest in Hewett fields and the Bacton terminal.

The acquisition is in line with Tullow's strategy of building its presence in the UK natural gas market.
