The militant Iraqi group holding a Turkish contractor hostage has repotedly beheaded him and his translator.

Al Jazeera television is this afternoon reporting that the contractor and his Iraqi translator were both executed because they worked US forces in Iraq.

The station broadcast scenes from a video by the Army of Ansar al-Sunna group showing the Turk standing between two masked militants.

Al Jazeera said the group killed the two men after they "confessed" to have cooperated with US forces.

The station television said it would not air the beheading becasue of its disturbing nature.

The video was obtained from a Web site, the station said.
