Golcuk - Relatives and friends of the 17,000 killed in Turkey's devastating earthquake a year ago tended graves and quietly wept yesterday, lamenting the loss of loved ones and lack of state action to rehouse the homeless.
Earthquake survivors knelt to pray beside hundreds of graves dug hastily at a cemetery outside the town of Golcuk, the epicentre of the tremor measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale that levelled a big swathe of the north-west.
