Srinagar - Twelve people, including a child and nine rebels, have been killed in fresh separatist violence in India's northern state of Jammu and Kashmir, police said yesterday. They said Indian security forces yesterday shot dead three militants in a gun battle in Udhampur district south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir state. A child also died in the battle.
On Wednesday two militants were killed when a bomb they were planting accidentally went off near the village of Luhani in the same district. Elsewhere, six people, including four separatist militants and two civilians, were killed in gun battles.
