Twin 14-year-old brothers have been seriously injured in a hit-and-run road accident in Northern Ireland. One of the boys is in a critical condition in hospital.
They were riding their bikes near Ballynahaye Quarry in Ballygawley, Co Tyrone, at around 8.30pm last night when they were involved in a collision with a green car.
Police said the vehicle failed to stop at the scene and sped off in the direction of Omagh.
Detectives investigating the accident have appealed to anyone travelling on the road around the time of the accident to contact them. One man was later arrested and is being questioned.
A motorcyclist was killed when he crashed into a wall close to a railway flyover in the Co Antrim seaside town of Portrush yesterday. He was named by police as Desmond John Bacon, 43, of Lever Park in neighbouring Portstewart, Co Derry.
A 37-year-old man was taken to hospital after crashing the motorcycle he was riding near Magheralin, Co Armagh. No other vehicle was involved, said police. - ( PA)
