Two armed Palestinians were killed this morning in an exchange of fire with an Israeli army unit near Hebron in the south of the West Bank, Israeli military sources said.
The soldiers were carrying out a search when the two Palestinians hidden in a cave opened fire in their direction. They returned fire, killing the Palestinians, the sources said.
The two latest deaths bring to 2,741 the number of people killed since the beginning of the Palestinian uprising more than two years ago, including 2,013 Palestinians and 678 Israelis.
