Two men were arrested this evening after having robbed a jewellers in Co Kildare using an imitation handgun.
The two men entered Celbridge Jewellers at around 4pm armed with an imitation handgun and a crowbar.
They threatened staff with the firearm and demanded cash. The culprits left the jewellers with a sum of cash.
The men, who are in their thirties and forties, were apprehended after local gardaí on mobile patrol witnessed them running down the street following the robbery. They were pursued and subsequently arrested.
An imitation firearm, balaclava and a sum of cash were recovered. No one injured during the incident
Both suspects are currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Leixlip Garda station.
