Two people have been arrested by gardai investigating the circumstances surrounding the delivery of two bullets to Mountjoy prison last Monday.
The bullets were delivered by hand in an envelope by a male who handed them to a prison officer and left. It is understood that the envelope contained a letter threatening senior staff at the prison as well as the two bullets.
A 29 year-old male and a 21 year-old female were arrested at Chancery Street at 2.35pm yesterday in connection with the investigation.
They were arrested under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and are being detained at Mountjoy Garda Station.
