Two men were arrested today in connection with a shooting in Derry that the Police Service of Northern Ireland blamed on the IRA.
The men are being questioned about last month's wounding of bus driver Mr Danny McBrearty.
Mr McBrearty had been driving a coach with elderly passengers on board in the nationalist Creggan Estate on September 29th when he was attacked by a gang of masked men.
He was beaten with hammers and shot in both legs.
From his hospital bed, Mr McBrearty said the gang told him they were from the IRA, adding he had received at least four death threats from the organisation.
He said he had been singled out because he had fired a shot outside the house of his nephew Mr Joseph McCloskey last year at an armed gang who were trying to break in.
Sinn Féin has denied republicans were involved in the shooting of Mr McBrearty. PA
