Two policemen were injured in east Belfast when their vehicle was rammed by a stolen car last night.

The black Volkswagen Golf was taken last night from Ballyclare, Co Antrim, during a burglary. It rammed the police vehicle on the Ormeau Embankment near the Ravenhill Road at about 2.25am.

Police were not following the stolen car at the time, but it is believed the driver may have panicked and rammed the vehicle to get away.

Both officers were treated in hospital but their injuries were not life threatening.
