Two charged in €8.8m fraud case

Two men have appeared in court in Co Kildare, charged with theft and fraud offences totalling more than €8.8 million.

Two men have appeared in court in Co Kildare, charged with theft and fraud offences totalling more than €8.8 million.

John Duffy (42) from Clogheen, Monasterevin in Kildare, and Athony McAuliffe (69), from French Furze, Kildare appeared before Naas District Court this morning on two charges under the theft and fraud offences act.

The case involves a loan of €8,825,000 from the Irish branch of Investec bank.

The men were remanded on bail to appear again in court next month.
