Two men accused of trying to rob a rural post office with an imitation gun will appear before Galway District Court on Wednesday.
Michael Huston (44), of 14 Luí Na Gréine, Western Distributor Road, Galway, and Quintas Smith (30) of 67 Main Street, Cavan, were remanded in custody when they appeared before a special sitting of Galway District Court yesterday.
They were charged with having an imitation gun, possession of a knife, gloves and balaclavas with intent to carry out a robbery at Indreabhan Post Office in south Connemara last Wednesday.
Supt Noel Kelly objected to the pair being granted bail and Judge Gerard Furlong remanded them in custody to Castlerea Prison to appear before Galway District Court next Wednesday.
