Two Nigerian men were today remanded in custody in Derry after being charged with people trafficking.
Alexander Success, 28, of Waterfoot Park in Derry and Akeen Sittu, 29, with an address at Blanchardstown, Dublin, were arrested following an international police operation.
At Derry Magistrates Court, a police officer said he believed the two brothers were involved in an operation to involve vulnerable young women in arranged marriages.
The court heard that some young women in Northern Ireland were living in fear of their lives.
The men are charged with facilitating the illegal entry into Britain of a Chinese immigrant in Coleraine between January and December 2002.
They were remanded in custody to appear at Ballymena Magistrates Court on 15 June.
A third man who was arrested with the men on Thursday has been handed over to immigration officials.
