A man has died after a crash on the M1, and a woman has died following a collision between her car and a lorry on the outskirts of Belfast.
The M1 crash happened at about 10.20pm on Thursday at Rowans Little, Lusk, Co Dublin, and involved a single vehicle, a van.
A Garda spokesman said the man (34) was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Gardaí at Balbriggan are investigating.
The fatal crash in Northern Ireland occurred on the Saintfield road, outside Ballygowan, Co Down, about 9.30am yesterday.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the accident to contact them. They specifically want to speak to the driver of a red or orange Audi which was travelling in front of the woman's car shortly before the accident happened
The name of the woman, who had been an occupant of a small red car, had not been released last night.
