A man and woman were killed and 15-year-old girl injured in a shooting at a house in Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

The teenager underwent surgery for her injuries following the incident at an address in Hills Avenue in the east of the city.

Detectives are understood to be examining a possible domestic motive and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.

The man, aged 47, and the 40-year-old woman naemd locally as Ms Mary Crilly , are believed to have been in a relationship.

They died just before 1.30 a.m., police said.

As murder squad officers examined the home, the detective in charge of the investigation, Supt Alan Mains, said a number of shots were fired in the house.

"We are looking at the containment of the house itself, that's where the investigation is focusing," he said.
