Two people died in Cork on Monday night after being injured in road accidents which occurred in recent days.
A woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident at Watergrasshill in Cork on Monday night. Her car struck a wall at Tinaeragh at about 9. 50 p.m., and she was later pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital.
Meanwhile, a 79-year-old man died in Cork University Hospital on Monday following a road accident. The man was the driver of a car involved in a collision with another car at Castlemartyr at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Up to last night, the number of people killed on the roads this year was 342 - a reduction of 34 on the previous year. However, last year saw a reduction of 35 in the number of road deaths compared with 2001.
