Two men have been killed in separate motorbike crashes in Cos Louth and Waterford.
A man was killed at 8.30pm last night when his motorbike was in collision with a car at a crossroads at Green Gates on the old Dundalk to Drogheda Road.
The dead man was taken to Louth County Hospital. The male driver of the car was injured and is said to be in a serious condition in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
Earlier, a motorcyclist in his 50s died when he crashed into a horse at Kilmeaden, Tramore, Co Waterford at 6.35pm. His passenger is seriously injured in Waterford Regional Hospital.
A total of 168 people have been killed on the Republic's roads so far this year.
Meanwhile, gardaí in Tallaght have appealed for witnesses to a crash yesterday in which a cyclist was killed when he was struck by a truck at the junction of Embankment Road and Belgard Road.
Witnesses are asked to contact Tallaght Garda station on 01-666-6000.
Gardaí this morning named the man who was killed in a car crash in Co Clare yesterday as Mícháel Nagle (59) of Liscannor.
