Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to two separate traffic crashes after two people were killed in separate incidents on Irish roads in recent days.

A 40-year-old man died after the car he was driving hit trees and a wall just outside the village of Belclare, Tuam, Co Galway at about 11.30pm yesterday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A male passenger (46) was seriously injured and was taken to University College Hospital Galway for treatment.

Gardaí in Tuam are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or were on that road between 11pm to 11.30pm to contact them on 093 70840, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.

Separately, gardaí in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, are appealing for witnesses to a crash between a truck and a car in Co Wexford on Thursday. A 35-year-old woman, who was seriously injured in the incident at Shambough, New Ross, died yesterday evening at Waterford Regional Hospital.

The driver of the articulated lorry was uninjured.
