An elderly woman was killed and her sister seriously injured when their car was in collision with a lorry on the main Newcastle West to Rathkeale road on Saturday evening.
Ms Helen Magner (76) of Coolanoran, Ardagh, Co Limerick, who died, was a passenger in the car. Mrs Peg Giltenane (75) of the same address, who was driving, was said to be in a serious condition at the Regional Hospital, Limerick.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to an accident on Inchicore Road, Dublin, on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., in which a woman died after she was hit by a bus.
Ms Theresa McGee (44) of Fatima Mansions, Rialto, was killed while crossing the road. Gardai are particularly anxious to talk to the driver of a brown car in the area at the time.
