A man and woman arrested yesterday morning in relation to the murder of two soldiers in the North and the attempted killings of five others have been released.

Sappers Patrick Azimkar (21), from London and Mark Quinsey (23) from Birmingham were shot dead in a Real IRA attack outside Massereene Barracks, Antrim, in March.

They were the first soldiers to be murdered in Northern Ireland in 12 years.

A PSNI spokesman said the man (39) has been released unconditionally while the woman (55) was released pending a report to the public prosecutions service.

The pair were arrested in Coalisland, Co Tyrone and west Belfast as part of a search operation.

Another man was released two days ago in relation to the murders. Two other men have been charged.
