Two garda patrol cars were involved in a collision with another car which reportedly went out of control in west Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

The car was being pursued by the gardaí on the Neilstown Road in Clondalkin at around 3.25 a.m.

It is understood the vehicle, a Honda Civic, struck the garda vehicles when going the wrong way round a roundabout.

The car was then abandoned. One garda received minor injuries in the incident and was treated at Tallaght hospital.

Two men aged 23 and 21 were later arrested and also treated for minor injuries. The two are subsequently been discharged and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
