Cocaine worth at least €1.5 million found in Belfast Airport yesterday originated in the Republic, it emerged today.

The seizure is one of the North's biggest ever and it is believed it was destined for mainland Europe.

The drug was seized in Belfast International Airport yesterday afternoon and two men travelling on German passports were arrested. The two were just about to board a flight to Luton, England when they were arrested.

Both suspects were taken for questioning at a serious crime holding centre in Antrim.
