Two men were in custody last night following the discovery of a 19-year-old Dublin woman's body in a caravan at Ventry, near Dingle.
A 33-year-old man, understood to be from the Ventry area, was arrested in Co Kerry yesterday and was helping a Garda murder investigation.
A suspected murder scene was being preserved by gardai in a Cork suburb last night, as was the caravan where the woman's body was discovered yesterday afternoon.
Gardai believe the young woman, who received fatal head injuries, was murdered in Cork and her body driven to the caravan site. Following information received by the Garda in Cork, a search was made of a house at Kilnap Place, Farranree, on the north side of Cork city. Subsequently further information was provided which prompted gardai to contact their counterparts in Dingle.
The information relayed to Dingle resulted in the search of the caravan park and the discovery of the woman's body. A senior Garda source in Cork said last night the matter was being treated as a murder inquiry.
It is believed that three people, including the dead woman, and a woman and a man with Kerry connections, moved into the house at Kilnap Place about three weeks ago. Following what appears to have been a row in the house some time on Saturday, the unnamed Dublin woman was fatally injured.
A third woman, not connected with the incident, may have given the information which helped the Garda authorities with their inquiry, which has shocked the Kilnap area.
Last night a second man, in his late 20s, was arrested in connection with the incident. The man, originally from the Isle of Man, had presented himself to Dingle gardai in connection with the body but no further information was available.
