A man and a woman are in custody in Co Monaghan after being arrested this morning following a discovery of drugs, cash and ammunition.
The woman (27) and man (34) were detained following searches at two addresses in Dundalk, Co Louth.
A quantity of cannabis and a substantial amount of cash, including forged foreign currency, were recovered along with a large quantity of ammunition.
Ireland.comunderstands that today's raids were the result of an investigation into dissident republican activity.
The Garda say the discovery and arrests are part of an "ongoing operation targeting serious crime in the Carrickmacross area of Co Monaghan".
The two are being detained at Castleblayney and Carrickmacross Garda Stations, where they can be held for up to 72 hours.
