Two men were in custody last night after an early-morning collision and car theft in Co Meath.
A nurse driving home from work in a four-wheel drive vehicle at about 8am was stopped at traffic lights in Dunboyne when a five series BMW crashed into her vehicle.
Two men got out of the BMW carrying a bag of wine bottles and tried to leave the scene.
Bystanders, who had witnessed the crash, tried to stop them and they became involved in a row. One of the men allegedly punched one of the bystanders, an elderly woman, in the face. The other got into the four-wheel drive and drove it away. The car was later found abandoned.
Two men in their 20s were being detained last night at Ashbourne Garda station in connection with the incident under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
