Two men were being questioned by murder squad detectives today after a man died following a knife attack.
The 27-year-old Latvian was stabbed in Swords in the early hours of yesterday morning but lost his fight for life late last night.
Gardaí, who had arrested a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old, launched a murder inquiry. The pair are being questioned at Swords and Malahide Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The victim was attacked in Oaklands Avenue at around 3.10am.
It was one of three separate knife attacks in the Dublin area over the weekend. They all happened in the space of an hour and a half.
A 16-year-old boy is being questioned over a stabbing at McIntosh Park in Pottery Road, Dun Laoghaire. A man is being treated for his injuries in St Vincent's Hospital after the attack some time after 4am yesterday morning.
In the third incident, two men suffered stab wounds in a fight at Tubber Lane in Lucan, also some time after 4am. Both were treated at Blanchardstown Hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious.
