Two men have been arrested following an attempted robbery at a jewellery shop in central Dublin this afternoon.
Three men, one of whom was armed with a sawn-off shotgun, burst into the shop on Dawson Street at 12.30pm.
A scuffle with staff and members of the public ensued, during which the gun was wrested from the robbers and one of the raiders was seriously injured. He was later taken to St James's Hospital.
Gardaí arrived on the scene and arrested a man in his 20s and another in his 40s. They are being held at Pearse Street Garda station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939.
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
