A young man was shot in a "punishment style" attack in Moygashel, Co Tyrone, after he was singled out by two men while he was making a telephone call from a phone box.

His attackers, who were driving a dark coloured BMW-style car, pulled him from a phone box in Main Street and shot him twice before making off from the scene.

In another incident on the Rathcoole Estate in Newtownabbey on the outskirts of north Belfast, a man was shot twice in the right leg by a masked gang.
