Two people arrested following co-ordinated searches involving the Garda and British authorities earlier this week have appeared in court in Wales accused of human trafficking for the sex trade.

Thomas John Carroll (47) and Shamiela Clark (31) both of Castlemartin, Pembrokeshire, west Wales, are charged with four offences - human trafficking into the UK, human trafficking out of the UK, controlling prostitution and money laundering.

They were arrested with eight other people as gardai and British authorities launched co-ordinated searches across Northern Ireland, the Republic and Wales.

Following a hearing at Llanelli magistrates, they were remanded in custody until December 16th when they will appear before Swansea Crown Court.
