Two men have appeared in court in Lisburn charged with attempted murder at a Travellers' halting site.

Two men have appeared in court in Lisburn charged with attempted murder at a Travellers' halting site.

The charges relate to an incident in which at least three shots were fired at a caravan on the site  in Dunmurry, Co Antrim, on Monday morning. A baby aged and a toddler who were in the caravan at the time escaped injury.

A woman was treated in hospital for stab wounds to the hand she received during the attack.

Mr Brendan Doherty (22) , with an address at Belfast Road, Lisburn, was charged with attempted murder and with the grievous bodily harm of Ms Christine Doherty.

His father, Mr Patrick Doherty (49), was charged with attempted murder.

Both men deny the charges.
