Two women have been killed in a road traffic crash in Co Carlow this afternoon.

The women, one in her 50s and the other believed to have been in her 70s, were travelling in a car that was involved in a collision with a minibus at Rathwade Cross, Bagnalstown, Co Carlow, at about 3.30pm. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two children who were also in the car are being treated in St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A man who was driving the minibus and a female passenger have also been taken to St Luke’s Hospital, but their condition is not known.
