Two of Saudi Arabia's most wanted militants have been killed by security forces in clashes in the northern town of Al-Ras, Al Arabiya television has said.
The Saudi-owned channel named the two men as Abdulkarim al-Mejjati and Saud Homoud al-Oteibi. Both were on a list of 26 most wanted militant suspects published by the Saudi government in December 2003.
Mejjati, a Moroccan, has been linked to bombings in Casablanca in May 2003 and last year's Madrid train bombings, Saudi security sources say.
Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry said yesterday that security forces had killed seven gunmen in clashes in Al-Ras early on Sunday.
A ministry statement said an eighth militant was critically wounded and a number of members of the security forces were injured, though most had been released from hospital.
