Two men allegedly involved in a "pitched battle" between feuding factions outside a restaurant will go on trial in Limerick Circuit Court next Tuesday.
Mr Philip Collopy (23), of St Ita's Street, St Mary's Park, is charged with possession of a weapon on May 27th last at the car park of Supermac's on the Ennis Road, Limerick.
Mr Declan Sheehy (37), of St Brendan's Street, St Mary's Park, is charged with violent disorder on the same date.
Both the accused were presented with the book of evidence yesterday at Limerick District Court.
An earlier court sitting heard that during the alleged fracas an array of weapons, including pool cues, golf clubs, chairs and signs, were used by the factions.
The court also heard that only for the intervention of members of the Garda sub-aqua unit - who happened to be passing at the time - the alleged incident could have resulted in serious injury or loss of life.
Judge Tom O'Donnell ordered that both accused should be returned for trial to the next sitting of Limerick Circuit Court. He noted that bail had already been refused, and he remanded both in continuing custody.
Seven other men have already been sent forward for trial charged in connection with the same alleged incident.
All nine accused will stand trial next Tuesday at Limerick Circuit Court.
