Two men appeared before Kells District Court today charged in connection with the seizure of cocaine with a street value of over €3 million at a premises near Maynooth, Co Kildare.
Wayne Whelan (28) of Rowlagh Gardens in Clondalkin and Martin Walsh (35) of Moorings, Roberstown in Co Kildare were both charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
Members of the Garda National Drugs Unit raided the premises on Tuesday which they believed was being used as a cocaine mixing centre.
Detectives discovered about 15kg of cocaine valued at just over €1.2 million. They also found 30kg of mixing agent. When mixed together, the agent and cocaine could have been sold on the streets for up to €3.5 million.
