Two men died in separate early morning road incidents in Galway and Carlow over the weekend. The first victim, a pedestrian named by gardaí as Tony Fitzpatrick (53), Clonmore, Killeshin, Co Carlow, died when he was struck by a car shortly before 1am on Saturday.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who travelled on the Carlow to Abbeyleix road between 12 midnight and 1am on Friday night/Saturday morning to contact Carlow Garda station.
Gardaí in Galway are investigating a single vehicle crash which occurred at 2.30am yesterday at Coolaghy, Moycullen, Galway. A 39-year-old male driver was fatally injured when his car crashed into a wall. He has not yet been named.
Meanwhile, gardaí at Oranmore, Galway have reiterated their appeal for witnesses to a fatal collision at Glenascaul last Thursday, in which a 22-year-old man died. David Fox, School Road, Carnmore, Galway, was killed when the car in which he was a passenger struck a tractor shortly after 1.30pm.
Gardaí are appealing for people who were travelling on the Oranmore to Claregalway road at lunchtime and who witnessed the collision to contact Oranmore Garda station on 091-794122.
