Two men charged in connection with a raid on an alleged drug factory appeared in court yesterday.
Peter John Ndizeye (20), Melrose Road,Clondalkin, Dublin, was charged with possession of €120,000 worth of cocaine for supply at a flat on Phibsboro Road, Dublin, on October 3rd and Monday Onyia (20), St Margaret's Road refugee reception centre, Finglas, Dublin, was charged with possession of €2,000 worth of the drug for supply at the same address.
Garda Brendan Casey objected to bail for Mr Ndizeye because of the seriousness of the charges and his belief that he would leave the jurisdiction if freed.
The court heard he was unemployed but lived with his wife and child in Clondalkin and was also a tenant of the flat in Phibsboro.
His solicitor said he was prepared to abide by any bail conditions the court may impose because he needed to look after his child while his wife was in hospital pregnant with their second child.
Judge Clare Leonard refused bail and remanded him in custody to appear in Cloverhill District Court on October 12th. She deferred an application for free legal aid, because he appeared to have interests in two properties.
She granted bail for Mr Onyia in his own bond of €200 with conditions that he surrender his passport and not apply for a new one and sign on five days a week at Finglas Garda station.
She also remanded him to appear again on October 12th.
