Two men are in critical condition in hospital after assaults in Westmeath and Cork over the weekend.
A man (21) is on a life-support machine in Cork after he and another man were attacked in Knocknaheeny yesterday morning. The second man was less seriously hurt.
In Mullingar, a man (41) suffered severe head injuries in a fight in a sports club in Mullingar at a 21st birthday party.
The assault occurred at St Loman's GAA club on Delvin Road, Mullingar, early yesterday. The injured man is being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

The scene was sealed off for forensic investigation and gardaí in Mullingar have asked witnesses to contact them.
