Two men were today jailed for the manslaughter of Keith Ryan, whose badly beaten body was found under a bridge in Limerick last year.
The 23-year-old suffered serious head and facial injuries and choked on his own blood following the incident, which took place near the Shannon Bridge on May 24th 2006.
Tony O'Brien (24) from Baker Place, Limerick, was given a 10-year sentence at Limerick Circuit Court today. O'Brien had pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawfully killing Mr Ryan.
Thomas Ryan (25) from Shanabooley Road, Ballynanty, Limerick, who had pleaded guilty to Mr Ryan's manslaughter, was given a seven-year sentence.
During the trial, the jury heard evidence from State Pathologist Marie Cassidy who said Mr Ryan died after suffering a number of severe face injuries and bruising to his abdomen.
