Two men have appeared in a British court charged with the murder of black teenager Anthony Walker.
Paul Taylor (20), and a 17-year-old youth who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Knowsley magistrates in Huyton, Merseyside.
The pair were remanded in custody to appear before Liverpool Crown Court on August 23th.
They were both dressed in blue tracksuit trousers and stripy blue jumpers and spoke only to give their names, addresses and dates of birth.
The two defendants are accused of killing 18-year-old A-Level student Anthony in a Huyton park last Friday night with an axe and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm to him.
Detectives said he was killed just minutes after he had been taunted with racist abuse while standing at a bus stop with his white girlfriend.
The murder of Walker, described as a devout Christian and model student, shocked the local community in Huyton and evoked memories of the 1993 racist killing of Stephen Lawrence.
