Two men have been shot by masked attackers in a paramilitary-style assault in east Belfast, police said today.

The victims - a 25-year-old and a 37-year-old - were both shot in the lower legs after being ordered to lie on the ground in Kirn Park, Dundonald last night.

Both were taken to hospital, and their injuries are described by police as "not thought to be life-threatening".

A police spokesman said: "At around 11.10pm they were approached at Kirn Park by two masked men, one armed with a handgun, and they were then ordered to get on the ground and then shot.

"The 25-year-old man sustained two gun shot wounds to the lower leg area; the 37-year-old man sustained one gun shot wound to the lower leg."
