Gardaí in Limerick are investigating two separate overnight shootings in the city.

A man (46) was shot dead by a gunman outside a house at O'Malley Park in the Southill area of the city at around 2.50am.

The man was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital where he died a short time later. The gunman escaped on foot.

Mr Crawford is an uncle of Jordan Crawford (5) who was shot in  the thigh last month during a drive-by shooting at the same address.

Meanwhile, Paul Crawford, who is a brother of the dead man,  was brought before a special sitting of Limerick District Court this evening where he was charged with making a threat to kill a woman in O'Malley Park.

Det Garda David Burke gave evidence of arresting Paul Crawford and he objected to bail.

Judge Tom O'Donnell acknowledged that Mr Crawford would wish to attend his brother's funeral in the coming days but he remanded him in custody at Limerick Prison to appear again at Limerick District Court on Wednesday.

In a separate incident last night, a man (33) was shot in the shoulder shortly after 11.30pm at Cliona Park in the Moyross area of the city.

The man has been taken to Limerick Regional Hospital where his injuries are described as not life threatening.

Shots were also fired through the upstairs window of a house at O'Malley Park shortly after 4am. There were no injuries reported. The shooting is not believed to be feud-related.
