A 22-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being abducted and shot in a so-called "punishment" attack. He was bundled into a car by several masked men in the Oldpark area of north Belfast on Saturday.
The man was shot in the ankles, wrists and one elbow. In a separate incident on Saturday, a 17-yearold was shot in the ankles in the Almond Drive area. The Provisional IRA is believed to have been responsible for both attacks. Meanwhile, loyalists have been blamed for an arson attack on a Catholic church in Tannaghmore, Co Antrim. The blaze at Macnissus church hall caused extensive damage to the stage area and roof.
