Two people died in traffic accidents in Co Cork yesterday.
Moira Burke, from Fermoy, was killed when the car which she was driving struck a wall shortly before 9am. She was in her early 30s.
The incident happened at Castlehyde, Fermoy, on the N73 in the direction of Mallow, outside dancer Michael Flatley's home.
Ms Burke was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. No other vehicles were involved in the incident, and the victim was the sole occupant of her car.
The body of the victim was taken to Cork University Hospital for a postmortem examination. It is not known what caused the crash.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Fermoy station at 025-82100.
Also in Co Cork, an 84-year-old man from Mallowdied yesterday afternoon when he was knocked down by a truck.
The incident happened near Mallow Golf Club shortly after 5pm.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but he was pronounced dead.
The truck-driver is not thought to have been seriously injured.
It is understood that the pensioner was crossing the road when he was struck by the truck.

These latest deaths brings to 10 the number of people who have lost their lives on Cork roads so far this year.
Earlier this week figures from the Southern Region Garda Traffic Corps showed that 50 per cent more people have been killed on Cork roads so far this year compared to this time last year.
